Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2019) USB-C Charging Port Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 4 Steps
The charging port on this tablet sits on a separate board that’s connected to the motherboard via flex cables. The trickiest part of this repair is dealing with the display, which is glued in place in one section. Take your time, and if you get stuck, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 1
– Since the display is glued in tight, warming it up to loosen the adhesive is a smart move. You can use a dedicated heat plate, a hair dryer, a low-heat heat gun, or even a heated bed from a 3D printer — I went with the heated bed for its even heat and steady temperature, set at 60°C. Once warmed, gently insert a prying tool between the display and the case edge — starting at the top is best to avoid damaging the screen’s PCB at the bottom. Using suction cups makes the process smoother and less stressful. Carefully move the prying tool around to cut through all the glue holding the display in place. When the glue is loosened, unplug the display flex cable and lift out the display. If you need help during any step, you can always schedule a repair.
Tools Used
Step 2
– Start by removing all the Phillips-head screws around the edges—think of it as unscrewing the door to your device’s secret lair.
– Gently pry apart the case using a prying tool—careful now, you’re just separating two parts of the shell, not cracking a nut.
Step 3
– Look! You’ve got the PCB with the charging port in front of you. Nice work!
– Time to disconnect those three flex cables. You’ve got this!
– Grab a prying tool or a small flat-head screwdriver and gently remove the PCB. Take it slow and steady!
Step 4
– Let’s get that charging port replaced with a shiny new one!
– Now, give your device a test run to make sure it’s charging like a charm.
Success!
