Sony Dream Machine ICF-C211 Teardown
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 6 Steps
While rummaging through my packed basement, I stumbled upon a gadget I had completely forgotten about! It was my trusty old device, which took a backseat when I got my fancy new cellphone that could do everything and more. After making sure it was still alive and kicking, I thought to myself, why not take it apart and see just how this little lifesaver managed to save my mornings time and time again?
Step 1
– Ever wanted to launch your alarm clock across the room just to make it stop beeping? Well, today we’re going a step further—we’re taking it apart piece by piece! Let’s get started.
Step 2
– Alright, let’s flip this alarm clock upside down! Just keep an eye out for that caution sign about electric shock, and grab your trusty Phillips screwdriver.
– Check it out! The Sony Dream Machine comes with a battery backup, ensuring it can still disrupt your beauty sleep even during a power outage. Quite the sneaky feature, right?
Step 3
– With the screws out of the way, carefully lift up the clear plastic panel in front of the LED display.
– Flip the alarm clock over and gently raise the top—go slow so you don’t snap any plastic bits. There aren’t any screws inside, just a maze of plastic joints and some glue holding everything together. Pretty wild, right?
Step 4
– Check it out—your alarm clock is now in two neat pieces.
– Next up: let’s take out the circuit board. Just get your thumb under one edge and gently lift it out—easy win!
– Before we tackle the top section, let’s pop out the AC. Use your thumb the same way as before, and it should slide right out of its spot.
Step 5
– This part is kind of the fun bit: Carefully work the speaker off the case. A flathead screwdriver will do the job nicely, but take it easy—try not to damage the plastic ring around the speaker, or you might have trouble getting it back on!
Step 6
– Here’s a look at the circuit board with some photos for reference.
– And that wraps up our teardown—hope you had fun! Now, good luck putting everything back together!
