Hey there! Just a heads-up, if you need a hand during your repair adventure, feel free to schedule a repair with the pros at Salvation Repair.
Follow this groovy guide to swap out your headphone jack/speaker assembly. Let’s crank up the tunes and get this party started on your device!
Step 1
You can totally rock the next four steps without a plastic opening tool, but hey, why risk those pesky clips? Grabbing a tool is a smart move to keep everything in tip-top shape.
– Wedge a plastic opening tool or your trusty fingernail into the little notch at the top of your phone, right where the back case meets the phone body.
– Give that opening tool a gentle twist to pop open the clips holding the top of the rear case in place.
Step 2
– Scoot your plastic opening tool to the left along the top edge, and give it another twist to further loosen up that stubborn rear case from your phone. Keep the groove going!
Step 3
– Keep grooving with that plastic opening tool along the edge of the top left corner. Just glide it around, gently prying up the rear case. Keep it chill, keep it safe!
Step 4
– Glide your prying tool along the top right edge and shimmy it down the right side of the back case. Keep going, you’re doing great!
Step 5
You might need to give the case a little wiggle to pop it free from any sneaky clips still hanging on to the bottom of the phone.
– Alright, superhero! Time to lift off that rear case from the phone like you’re peeling a banana!
Step 6
– No need for tools here—just use your finger to pop things off. You’ve got this!
– Slip a plastic opening tool into that little notch right above the battery. Easy does it!
– Gently lever the battery out of its snug home. You’re doing great!
Step 8
– Gently nudge your SIM card deeper into its slot with your fingernail until you hear a satisfying click.
– Once you hear that click, let go and watch the card magically pop out of its slot.
– When putting it back together, just push the SIM card back into the slot until you hear that reassuring click again.
Step 9
– Give that SIM card a gentle nudge with your thumb to slide it out just enough to get a good grip on it.
– Now, grab that little guy and smoothly pull the SIM card out of the phone.
Step 10
– Give that microSD card a gentle nudge deeper into its cozy slot with your fingernail until you hear a satisfying click.
– Once you hear that click, let go and watch it spring out, ready for action!
– When putting it back together, just press the microSD card back into its home until you hear that reassuring click to know it’s snug and secure.
Step 11
– Give the microSD card a gentle push with your thumb to slide it out of its cozy slot.
– Lift the microSD card out of the phone and voila!
Step 12
– Unscrew the ten 4.0 mm Phillips screws that keep the midframe attached to the front panel assembly. Let’s get those little guys out of there!
Step 13
The midframe just clicks right into place, super easy! A gentle tug is all it takes to pop it off. No sweat!
– Pinch the left side of the plastic midframe between your thumb and forefinger and give it a gentle lift away from the phone. Like magic, it will start to separate!
Step 14
Be a connector wizard, not a socket wrecker! Make sure you’re prying on the right part, or you might give the motherboard a bad day.
– Grab your trusty plastic opening tool and give that rear-facing camera connector a gentle pop off its socket on the motherboard. It’s like lifting a slice of pizza from a cheesy pie!
Step 15
– Use a plastic opening tool just outside the speaker part of the headphone jack/speaker assembly.
– Carefully lift the headphone jack/speaker assembly from the front assembly. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 16
– Time to give your Galaxy S III a little lift-me-up! Carefully remove the headphone jack/speaker assembly from its cozy spot. There, you did it!
