Ubee DVW23C Teardown

Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 6 Steps

Step 1

– As we scan around the device, the only screws you’ll see are four on the back and one near the power connector. All these screws are T10 Torx. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

Step 2

– Gently work the front panel loose to uncover the inner workings. It’s like peeling back the curtain on a tech magic show.

Step 3

– The PSU is flashing red, indicating a power supply alert. The Broadcom chip is showing orange, hinting at a potential issue with that component. The DOCSIS Cable connector is marked yellow, so keep an eye on it. The PSU Connector glows green, signaling it’s functioning as expected. The Antenna connectors are colored blue, helping you identify their location easily. The lights and diffusers are light blue, adding a touch of brightness to your device. Lastly, the ethernet and telephone jacks are magenta, making them stand out for quick recognition. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

Step 4

– To free the PSU, just remove a single screw and the one holding the power connector.

– This model is the N12-035N1A Power Supply from Chicony Power.

Step 5

– Now, let’s take a look at the back of the motherboard after it’s been carefully removed. It’s like unveiling the hidden side of your device – cool, right?

Step 6

– Wrapping up: this modem/router combo is surprisingly straightforward to work on, especially for an ISP device.

– All the screws are the same type—no wild scavenger hunt here. Sure, the T10 bit isn’t super common in your junk drawer, but it’s easy to buy, and only having one type keeps things simple.

– Swapping out the power supply is a breeze, but heads-up: it’s a custom part for this model, so finding a replacement isn’t as easy as just searching online.

– So, cracking it open is simple, but tracking down parts is a different story.

– Also, backups are saved without any encryption, and since there’s no way to update the firmware, that’s not changing. Those backups include both your password and the technician password (Username: technician / Password: C0nf1gur3Ubee#). If you run into a roadblock, you can always schedule a repair.

Success!
