Xbox One Headset Repair: Step-by-Step Guide to Replace Speakers

Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 5 Steps

If one of your headset speakers has decided to take a vacation—either going silent, sounding way quieter than its buddy, or producing some funky hissing and crackling sounds—it might be time for a little TLC. Don’t worry, removing the faulty speaker is a breeze! However, putting in a shiny new one will require some wire-splicing know-how. Grab your wire strippers, soldering tools, and either heat shrink tubing or electrical tape, and let’s get to work! This guide will walk you through the steps to remove the old speaker and show you exactly which wires need to be spliced. And remember, if you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

Step 1

– Grab the ear pad with one hand and the plastic back plate underneath with the other. Hold on tight, you’re gonna rock this!

– Now, with the ear pad facing you, push down on the back plate and turn it counter-clockwise. It’ll only move a little bit, about 1 cm. You got this!

Step 2

– Now, get ready to lift that back plate like a pro! Gently lift it straight up from the speaker (you know, the one with the ear pad attached) and watch it come right off!

Step 3

– Let’s get started by removing the three 7 mm Phillips #00 screws that hold the speaker in place. Take your time and make sure they’re all out before moving on to the next step.

Step 4

– Let’s get started by carefully prying open the back casing to reveal the speaker wires. Take your time and be gentle to avoid any damage.

Step 5

– Grab those wire cutters and snip away the blue and black wires from the headset, making sure to cut them close to where they meet the red and black wires of the speaker.

– Now it’s time to connect the dots! Attach the headset wires to their new speaker buddies.

– Remember, black meets black, and red is best friends with blue.

Success!
