Step 3
– Guess what? There are two sneaky screws hiding beneath the labels on the bottom of the case! Time to uncover them.
– You have a couple of options here: you can either peel off the labels like a pro or just give them a gentle poke to find the screw holes. If you go for the poke, a little cut or punch will do the trick!
Step 4
– Unscrew the six T20 Torx screws that are holding the top cover snugly against the bottom cover. Let’s get that cover off!
Step 5
– Now that the bottom and top shells are free from each other, gently flip the Xbox right-side-up and lift off the top cover like a pro!
Step 6
The screw in the lower left corner of the disk drive seems to be playing hide and seek! It’s not quite in the hole where you’d expect it to be, but is actually just hanging out a bit closer to the corner.
– Start by loosening those three 3 mm T10 screws that are holding the hard drive snugly in the Xbox. You’ve got this!
– Now, here’s a little tip: there’s one sneaky screw on the rear left side of the hard drive, and it only shows itself when you lift the IDE ribbon cable. The other two? They’re just chilling at the front right and left sides of the hard drive, waiting for you to find them.
Step 7
– First, gently release the hard drive power cable from the carrier to get some wiggle room – you’ll need it to lift out the hard drive.
– Next, carefully lift the plastic hard drive carrier out of the Xbox case. Take your time and make sure it’s free from any obstructions.
Step 8
– Start by taking out those four 3.4 mm T15 Torx screws from the plastic hard drive carrier – there are two on each side, so it’s a quick and easy job!
– Now, gently coax the hard drive out of the plastic carrier. A little bit of gentle rocking should do the trick and soon enough, it’ll slide right out!
Step 9
They might be snug in their spots, so take it easy when you’re trying to wiggle them out. Remember, pulling on the wires could lead to some unwanted damage to the cable assembly, so handle with care!
– Gently lift both the hard drive data ribbon cable and the power cable straight up from the hard drive. You’ve got this!
Step 10
– Ok, time to free that disk drive! It should pop right out.
– Now, let’s detach those ribbon and yellow cables from the back of the disk drive.
Step 11
When you’re taking out the disk drive to uncover the motherboard below, you can skip fussing with the plastic housing. Keep it simple and get right to the good stuff!
– Let’s pop that disk drive out! Gently pry back the black plastic tabs around the drive to free it from its housing. Once it’s free, set the drive aside.
Step 12
– Time to unplug that multi-colored power cord from the motherboard. It might be snug, so give it a little love and a gentle tug.
Step 13
Be gentle when handling the power supply – avoid touching the copper coil or capacitors to prevent any damage or shocks.
– Grab your trusty T10 Torx screwdriver and let’s get to work! Carefully unscrew those two 3mm screws from the tan power supply board. You’ve got this!
Step 14
Handle the copper coil and capacitors on the power supply with care—they can give you a jolt!
– First things first, let’s unplug that power supply! It should just pop right out. Easy peasy!
Step 15
– Let’s get started by disconnecting the yellow cables and the rainbow cord from the motherboard. Simply unplug them to begin the process.
Step 16
– Let’s get started by removing eleven 3mm screws from the motherboard. Grab your trusty T10 Torx screwdriver and refer to the picture to locate all eleven screws.
– Next, carefully unplug the power cable attached to the fan. Easy does it!
Step 17
– Take out the motherboard from the Xbox. With all screws removed and the fan unplugged, it should pop right out without a hassle!
Success!
