JBL Charge 2 Partial Teardown
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 4 Steps
This guide isn’t about taking everything apart. We’re sticking to the big stuff here. Check out the video below to get a better idea of what’s happening. Just a heads up: for this speaker, we swapped out the charge port for a brand new one.
Step 1
A bit of glue is holding the mesh in place, so take it easy—avoid using too much force when removing the mesh to prevent any damage. Stay gentle and steady, and if you need a hand, you can always schedule a repair.
– Grab a plastic spudger, a credit card, or anything else with a flat edge to gently lift off the protective mesh. Just work slowly and carefully, and it’ll come off without a hitch.
Tools Used
Step 2
– Start by unscrewing the four screws that are keeping the plastic molding in place at the end of the speaker.
– Once that’s done, gently lift off the plastic to uncover four more screws that need to be removed.
Step 3
Save yourself some hassle by unplugging the microphone first, then tackle the battery connection.
– You’re in! The motherboard is now fully accessible.
Step 4
– Unscrew the pair of white screws holding down the battery cover. Once those are out of the way, you’ll have a clear shot at the battery itself. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Success!
