Samsung Galaxy S8 Earpiece Speaker Replacement Guide
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 26 Steps
Hey there! Before you dive into disassembling your phone, make sure to drain that battery down to below 25%. If you accidentally puncture it, we definitely don’t want it to catch fire or go boom. But don’t worry, the risk is way lower when it’s discharged. Safety first, my friend!
Get ready to tackle the earpiece speaker removal in your Samsung Galaxy S8! First up, you’ll need to take off that rear glass cover. Just a heads up, having some replacement adhesive on hand will help you secure the back cover once you’re done. And before you dive into disassembling your phone, make sure to drain that battery to below 25%. We want to avoid any fiery surprises, and a little precaution goes a long way in keeping things safe and sound. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 1
Hey there! Before you get started, make sure to wipe down your microwave. You wouldn’t want any sticky residue getting on our precious iOpener, now would you? If you need help, you can always schedule a repair!
– Pop that iOpener right in the microwave’s sweet spot!

Step 2
Take good care not to get the iOpener too hot during the repair process. Heating it excessively could lead it to unexpectedly pop. Avoid trying to exceed temperatures of 100˚C (212˚F).
Keep your hands off the iOpener if it starts to look puffy.
In case the iOpener remains too warm at the center to touch, just keep using it while it cools down a bit more before warming it up again. A properly heated iOpener should retain its warmth for about 10 minutes.
– Pop the iOpener in the microwave for a quick 30-second warm-up session.
– Remember, the iOpener likes to stay toasty! So, feel free to give it another microwave hug for 30 seconds whenever it starts cooling down.

Step 3
Watch out! The iOpener is going to be pretty toasty, so handle it with care. An oven mitt might just become your new best friend!
– Get the iOpener out of the microwave, making sure to hold it by one of the flat ends to steer clear of the toasty middle.

Step 4
If you find yourself without a microwave, simply proceed with this step to gently warm your iOpener by immersing it in boiling water.
– Grab a pot or pan and fill it up with enough water to give your iOpener a nice, cozy bath.
– Bring that water to a boil and then turn off the heat. Safety first!
– Gently place your iOpener into the steaming hot water for about 2-3 minutes. Make sure it’s fully submerged, just like it’s taking a little vacation.
– Using some tongs (because we don’t want any burnt fingers), carefully fish out the warm iOpener from the hot water.
– Give the iOpener a good towel dry. We want it to feel fresh and ready!
– And there you have it! Your iOpener is all set to go! If it needs a little more warmth, just repeat the process: boil the water, turn off the heat, and let it soak for another 2-3 minutes. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

Step 5
You can use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate if you’re feeling adventurous! Just remember, don’t go overboard with the heat—your phone’s OLED display and internal battery are a bit fragile and can get cranky if things get too toasty.
Opening your phone will break its waterproof seals, so be prepared with some replacement adhesive before diving in. If you choose to reassemble your phone without swapping out the adhesive, just be extra cautious about water exposure.
While you’re waiting for that adhesive to soften up, why not get ahead and check out the next step? It’ll give you a good idea of where to start prying.
– Warm up your trusty iOpener and press it against one of the long edges of the S8 for about 2 minutes. You’re doing great!

Step 6
– Alrighty, time to get our hands dirty and make that back glass panel dance! You’ll find a wacky pattern of adhesive around it, as shown in the pics. We’re gonna rock it out using the prying pattern shown from the outside, so let’s get this party started!
Step 7
– Once the back panel is feeling toasty, grab a suction cup and place it as close to that nice warm edge of the phone as you can, steering clear of the curved parts.
– Give the suction cup a gentle lift, and slide an opening pick under that rear glass like a pro.
Step 8
– Now that you’ve got your tool securely in place within the glass, it’s time to reheat and reapply the iOpener – this will help loosen up that stubborn adhesive. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair

Step 9
Gently does it to avoid any slips. If cutting starts feeling tough, just warm up and reapply the iOpener.
– Gently glide the opening pick along the side of the device, coaxing apart the adhesive with ease.

Step 10
– Now it’s time to repeat the heating and cutting process for the remaining three sides of your phone – just like you did before, but on the other sides. Keep it up, you’re doing great!
– As you move on to the next side, make sure to leave an opening pick in place to prevent the adhesive from sneaking back in. You’re making progress, and that’s something to be proud of! If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
Step 11
As you gently lift the glass, take a quick peek to ensure that the orange cable with the blue connector has come loose. We don’t want any surprises!
If you notice the fingerprint sensor cable is feeling a bit tight or if it looks like it’s caught on something, hold up! Don’t open the phone any further. Use the point of a spudger to carefully disconnect the connector before you carry on.
The fingerprint sensor cable is a little guy that connects your phone to the rear glass just near the main camera. It’s quite short, so it will happily disconnect as you lift off the rear glass. No worries—it’s all part of the process!
– Grab those opening picks and slice through any leftover adhesive to gently pop the phone open just a bit.
– When you’re putting things back together, make sure to angle the back cover just right to align the fingerprint sensor cable connector with its socket. Once it’s in place, give it a gentle nudge straight down with the flat end of your spudger to snap it in securely.
– Carefully remove the glass from your phone.

Step 12
Feel free to pop that back cover back on without swapping out the adhesive! Just make sure to clear away any big adhesive clumps that could keep the cover from sitting nice and snug. Once you’ve got it on, give it a little warmth and some gentle pressure to lock it in place. It might not be waterproof, but trust us, that glue is usually plenty strong to keep everything secure.
– Alrighty then, time to tackle that back cover installation! Follow this guide to reinstall the old back cover or pop in a fresh new one without the sticky tape.
