Step 1

Step 2

– Unscrew the trio of identical Phillips screws securing the memory door. Let’s get this party started!

Step 3

– Gently lift the memory door just enough to get a good grip on it, then slide it toward yourself and away from the case like you’re pulling a tablecloth in a magic trick!

Step 4

– Whip out your screwdriver and unscrew those two cheeky 2.8 mm Phillips screws hiding in the battery compartment near the latch.

Step 5

– Time to unscrew! Please remove these 6 screws:

Step 6

– Unscrew the four 3.2 mm Phillips screws on the port side of your device. Let’s keep things loose and groovy!

Step 7

– Give your computer a quick 90-degree twirl and unscrew the two cheeky 3.2 mm Phillips screws hanging out at the back. Easy peasy!

Step 8

– Give your computer a cool 90-degree spin and take out the four 3.2 mm Phillips screws from the side. Keep rocking it!

Step 9

– Start by lifting the rear end of the case and slide your fingers along the edges to loosen it. Keep going until the sides are free. You might have to gently wiggle the case up and down to detach the front part of the upper case, as it’s held by some sneaky hidden plastic clips.

Step 10

– Unplug the trackpad and keyboard ribbon cable from the logic board, ditching any tape that’s in the way.

– Now, go ahead and lift off the upper case!

Step 11

– Unhook the three antenna cables from the Airport Extreme card.

– Cheers to Apple for marking where each colored antenna cable should go—just peek at that helpful label when hooking them back up!

Step 12

– Wiggle those Airport antenna cables out of their hangout in the left speaker’s channel.

Step 13

– Slide the iSight cable to the left and gently wiggle it out of its connector on the logic board. Easy-peasy!

Step 17

– Hold the display with one hand and playfully remove the next 3 screws:

Step 18

– Hold the display assembly with both hands, give it a gentle lift, and swing it out of the computer like you’re opening a treasure chest. Easy does it, you’re doing great!

Step 19

– Unscrew the two 5 mm Phillips screws chilling on the lower left and right corners of the display (that’s just two screws total, folks).

Step 20

– Slide the flat end of a spudger between the plastic strip on the rear bezel and the front bezel. Make sure it’s perpendicular to the display face. It’s like putting a key in a lock!

– With the spudger in place, give it a little twist away from the display. This is how you’ll start to pop the front and rear bezels apart.

– Keep working your way down the left side of the display, gently wiggling and twisting the spudger as you go, until the rear bezel and front bezel are happily separated along the entire edge.

Step 22

– Slide the flat end of your spudger between the front bezel and the nifty plastic strip clinging to the rear bezel right by those sneaky screw holes at the display’s bottom corners.

– If needed, work on that gap between the lower edge of the rear bezel and the clutch cover. Jiggle them apart until they decide to break up completely.
