Swap out the complete display setup – inverter, Airport antennas, hinges, and casing. Don’t worry, it’s just like giving your device a fresh outfit!
Step 1
– Push the battery release tabs away from the battery using your fingers, and then lift the battery out of the computer. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
Step 2
– Unscrew the three matching Phillips screws from the memory door. Time to get those little guys out!
Step 3
– Gently lift the memory door just enough to get a good grip, then slide it towards you to pop it away from the casing. You’ve got this!
Step 4
– Let’s kick things off by unscrewing those two 2.8 mm Phillips screws hiding out in the battery compartment by the latch. You’re doing great!

– Time to get your screwdriver ready! Let’s tackle those 6 screws and get this repair party started!

– Time to get your screwdriver ready! Unscrew those four 3.2 mm Phillips screws on the port side of your computer. You’ve got this!

– Give the computer a 90-degree twist and unscrew those two 3.2 mm Phillips screws from the back. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

– Spin the computer around 90 degrees once more and unscrew the four 3.2 mm Phillips screws from the side of the computer.
Step 9
Don’t rush pulling off the upper case. It’s hooked up to the logic board with a ribbon cable. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
– Gently lift the back of the case and let your fingers dance along the sides, loosening it as you go. Once those sides are free, give the case a little wiggle up and down to release the front of the upper case (there are some sneaky plastic clips that need a gentle nudge to pop off).
Step 10
– Gently detach the trackpad and keyboard ribbon cable from the logic board, peeling off any tape that might be in the way.
– Carefully take off the upper case.

– Disconnect the three antenna cables connected to the Airport Extreme card.
– There’s a handy label from Apple indicating where each color antenna cable should be plugged in – just refer to it when reconnecting!

– Gently guide the Airport antenna cables out from their groove in the left speaker.

– Gently slide the iSight cable to the left and pop it out of its connector on the logic board. You’ve got this!

– Gently pry the inverter cable from the logic board by sliding a spudger underneath the cable and lifting it up.

– Gently slide the display data cable off the logic board like you’re giving it a friendly nudge. No need to be rough, just a smooth little pull to set it free!

– Pop out that silver T6 Torx securing the ground loop in the display data cable to the casing.

– Grab hold of the display assembly from both sides and gently lift it upwards and away from the device.
